About Me... |
My many year journey as a model has taken me around the world, but especially relevant to me today, it's led me to a better understanding of my body's inner workings. It all began after leaving my home state of Kentucky for the Big Apple--I quickly discovered that my college diet of Taco Bell and Little Debbie snack-cakes wasn't gonna cut it in the modeling world! Besides getting my body in tip-top shape with a healthier lifestyle and cleaner foods, the bonus was that my energy levels soared--gone were near black-outs that I later realized were mere sugar crashes. After years of trial and error with my own self-discovery, and voraciously reading every nutrition book I could get my hands on, I tied that knowledge together with an intensive nutrition program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City, which focuses on both Eastern and Western philosophies. My education continues by the day as I keep up with nutrition current-events, attend seminars, and especially as I learn more and more from clients themselves. I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. |

Along with helping clients get on a healthy track through nutrition counseling, I am also a freelance magazine writer, based in New York City. Despite living in the city, I'm a big-time nature lover with a deep regard for environmental issues. Having a daughter recently has made me even more passionate about keeping a healthy and green household for my family, and I hope to share research that I've done along the way. I volunteer frequently for various causes (Slow Food, Small Planet Fund, GOAL, Trailblazers Youth Organization, etc), donating my time, as well as consultations for benefit auctions. Let me know if you're involved in an upcoming benefit! Some of my favorite food- and wellness-related quotes... Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint. -Mark Twain Leave your drugs in the chemist's pot if you can heal the patient with food. -Hippocrates Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are. -Anthelme Brillat-Savarin One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. -Virginia Woolf A man's health can be judged by which he takes two at a time: pills or stairs. -Joan Welsh My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people. -Orson Welles I don't believe in vitamins, pills, or anything like that. I swear by men, darling--and as many as possible. -Joan Collins ;) Some of my favorite quotes on LIFE... Why, sometimes I've believed in as many as six impossible things before breakfast. -Lewis Carroll Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right. -Henry Ford To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. -Ralph Waldo Emerson No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it. --Albert Einstein Those on top of the mountain did not fall there. -Anonymous Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less. -Marie Curie The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek, therefore, not to find out Who You Are, seek to determine Who You Want To Be. -Neale Donald Walsch Everybody dreams But not equally Those who dream by night In the dusty recesses of their minds Wake in the day to find that it was vanity But the dreamers of the day Are more dangerous For they may act out their dreams With open eyes To make it possible -T.E.
